Lion and Lamb — 11 x 14in, linocut print. 02/23/22.
This was one of the first linocut blocks I ever carved, and my goal for it was to create a design that would both challenge my skill with my carving tools, which I achieved with all the curls and curving lines, and get my brain better wrapped around white line versus black line in relief printmaking by switching in the middle.
Get Angry — 7 x 10 in, linocut reduction print. 03/28/22.
This block was my first foray into the reduction method of relief printmaking, as well as printing in multiple colors. I also think this one of the rare pieces of art in my body of work that actually is intended to convey a message that is personally meaningful to me.
Snake — 18 x 24 in, linocut print. 04/27/22.
Snake was probably the most ambitious project to come out of my relief printmaking class, not only because it's absolutely enormous compared to all of my other blocks, but also because I wanted the snake to really feel three-dimensional and alive with all those S-curved lines rather than going for a more simplified or stylized snakeskin design.
